Privacy Policy
On January 1, 2004, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) came into force for all organizations in Canada not otherwise covered by provincial legislation. This Act deals with the collection, disclosure and storage of personal information and how organizations deal with it. The Executive of the Ontario Handweavers & Spinners approved the following Privacy Policy on October 23, 2004.
Commitment
The Ontario Handweavers & Spinners (also referred to as OHS) respects your privacy. We adhere to relevant privacy legislation and do not rent, sell or trade our mailing list. The information that you provided will be used only to assist us in the delivering of OHS Services
All efforts are made to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the records that we keep. We are committed to ensuring that appropriate measures and safeguards are in place to protect the information that is held in order to deliver OHS Services. The information collected is retained for 2 years before appropriate disposal takes place.
The OHS membership list is a controlled document for internal use only. Access is given only to those entrusted with delivering OHS services. Any further distribution or release of information will be with the consent of the individual member.
OHS reviews its Privacy Policy regularly in accordance with the relevant legislation.
Donor Confidentiality
While OHS publicly acknowledges donations and contributions to the organization, we also recognize and respect any donors wishes regarding anonymity that is consistent with our legal obligations and requirements.
Website
Our website is operated for the benefit of our members and those interested in supporting our organization. Personal contact or financial information is not stored on the website. As well, OHS maintains links to outside sources as a convenience for users. We are not liable for the content, policies or damages, direct or indirect, resulting from use of these web sites and their links.
Definitions
Information: This includes Name and/or Contact Name, business name, complete mailing address, telephone number and email address.
Membership Lists: List of current members in good standing of OHS and their information, including guild contacts and lists.
OHS Services: The services include:
- delivery of our quarterly publication, Fibre Focus
- conferences, regional seminars and workshops
- exhibitions & juried shows
- lending library
- educational programmes
- scholarships & awards
- fundraising
