Burr House Spinners and Weavers

Alena Melas teaches a beginners course in the fall and the spring at the Guild Hall, at 530 Carrville Road, Richmond Hill. She does three series each one is the same.
1) Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday -9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
2) evenings 2x/wk for 4 weeks
3) four Saturdays.
Each one is 24 hrs. for $150. The students weave a simple place matt the first day and then they weave the twelve basic weaves sampler. They learn how to make a warp, how to dress the loom, how to read a pattern, how to weave the twelve basic weaves, how to hand stich and/or knot a fringe and how to wash their new heirloom. They receive a weaving otebook, information on suppliers, the guild news letter and information on the Burr House Spinners and Weavers guild. If they chose to join the guild, Alena will help them choose the materials for their first project, they can use the guild looms to work on and use the guild library. She may offer a beginners part two, where they would learn on samplers a warp face weave, a weft face weave, a lace weave a colour. Contact 905-884-0327   e-mail   info@burrhousefiberarts.com

Sudbury Area

Lessons for beginners are offered with a guild membership of $15 per year. Lessons are every Tuesday from 1 pm. until 3 pm. with volunteer staff. Contact Liz for more information. With membership. lessons are free.
Informal spinning lessons will be given by volunteer guild members every Wednesday from September to May. Contact Liz for more information. Visit our website.

Our Guild has promoted the art of spinning and weaving for over 50 years. To our members, we provide inhouse education through our library, workshops, guest speakers, members' presentations, study groups, etc., and to the community we regularly provide demonstrations and exhibitions of our work. Visitors are welcome to attend our meetings
